Ahhh the lovely art of pyrography…There is something so beautiful and yet so simple as burning an image into wood ( or leather, or paper, or bone..).
This hobby is a bit trickier to get into ill be honest. You need quite a bit to get started, you are gonna need a kit in order to burn the wood, wood to burn into(Please either buy some or find some of your own, do not use random things around the house, or other peoples property!!), templates unless you wish to free hand things, as well as a lot of patience and practise.
Here is an example of something I did using a template.
I have never been good at drawing, (I’m not that good at wood burning either..) but here is an example.
First, I found an image online.
Then I covered the back in pencil, taped it to my wood, and went over all the lines with a pen so that the lines were drawn out. then went over the lines with my burner.
From there it was as simple as switching between a tv show (xfiles) and some metal while shading. I’m pretty happy with the end result.
all this is because of this simple set of tools that came with everything I needed. If this seems like something you would be interested in id say grab some spare wood and a basic kit, I suggest this one, its the one I have!(Walnut Hollow Creative Versa Tool with Versa-Temp Variable Temperature Control and 11 Woodburning Points) and give it a shot!
If this is something you never knew about or you learned something let me know! Id love to hear about what other people are making out there!
